Modudome FAQ

The Modudome is a next-generation metatarsal dome designed to improve comfort, alignment, and forefoot support during walking and daily activity. Its larger, adjustable design and flexible ribbed structure allow for personalised pressure relief and enhanced foot awareness.

Below, you’ll find answers to the most common questions about Modudome and how it can help.

What is a Modudome?

Modudome is a specialist metatarsal dome designed to offload pressure from the front of the foot. Larger than traditional domes and shaped for dynamic alignment, it helps improve comfort during movement by redistributing pressure away from sensitive structures in the forefoot. Its flexible ribbed design also enhances foot awareness for a more natural step.

What is the Modudome made from?

Modudome is made from soft but supportive materials that compress gently underfoot while still providing stable offloading. The dome features a flexible ribbed surface for improved proprioception and is supplied with an adhesive pad for easy placement on top or underneath an orthotic or insole.

Why should I choose the Modudome?

Modudome is designed to offer more effective pressure redistribution than traditional metatarsal domes. Its larger shape spreads load over a wider area, while the adjustable size allows you to tailor the fit to your comfort. The ribbed design also enhances foot awareness and improves how the foot moves during walking, helping reduce irritation and discomfort from common forefoot conditions.

Who can use the Modudome?

Anyone experiencing discomfort in the front of the foot may benefit from using a Modudome. It is suitable for people with nerve irritation, swelling, plantar plate strain, or general forefoot overload. Modudome can be used by people of all ages and activity levels, and can be fitted into most well-structured footwear.

How is the Modudome fitted?

Modudome can be placed on either the top or bottom of your existing insole or orthotic, depending on your comfort and footwear. Simply remove the adhesive backing and position the dome just behind the sore area under the ball of the foot. The dome can be trimmed to a smaller size if a more subtle level of offloading is needed.

When should the Modudome be worn?

Modudome should be worn whenever you are on your feet, whether that’s during work, exercise, or daily activities. Consistent use helps reduce pressure and irritation, allowing the soft tissue structures in the forefoot to settle. Some people choose to keep multiple domes in different pairs of shoes for convenience.

What sizes does the Modudome come in?

Modudome comes in one universal size that can be trimmed to suit individual comfort needs. It can be kept larger for greater offloading or cut down to match the size of a traditional metatarsal dome.

How long does a Modudome last?

Modudome is designed to be long-lasting and durable. Longevity will vary depending on activity levels and how frequently the product is worn.

How do I clean the Modudome?

Modudome can be washed gently with a warm cloth or sponge. Rinse thoroughly and allow it to air dry before placing it back into your shoe or orthotic.

Is the Modudome safe to use?

Yes. Modudome is designed to improve comfort and reduce pressure in the forefoot in a safe and controlled way. It may take a few days to adjust to the new sensation underfoot. If discomfort continues after one week, the dome may need to be repositioned or trimmed for a more suitable fit.

Where did the idea for Modudome come from?

Modudome was developed to give people a more adaptable and effective solution for forefoot pain. Traditional metatarsal domes often offer a one-size-fits-all approach, limiting comfort and accuracy. Modudome was designed to improve dynamic alignment, provide better offloading, and offer a customisable fit that works for a wider range of foot types and activities.
