Soreness Under the Ball of the Foot
(Metatarsalgia)
Metatarsalgia is a common condition that causes aching, burning, or sharp discomfort under the ball of the foot. This area absorbs a large amount of pressure with every step, and over time the soft tissues can become irritated or overloaded. Many people notice the pain is worse when walking barefoot, standing for long periods, or wearing unsupportive shoes.
Changes in foot posture, reduced cushioning under the forefoot, or repetitive impact can all contribute to this discomfort. By redistributing pressure away from the metatarsal heads, devices like Modudome can help reduce strain and improve comfort during walking and daily activity.

Nerve Pain Between the Toes

Morton’s neuroma involves irritation or compression of a nerve between the toes, most commonly between the 3rd and 4th toes. This irritation can cause sharp, shooting, or burning pain that may feel like “walking on a pebble.” Some people also experience tingling or numbness in the toes, especially during walking or when wearing tight or narrow footwear.
This type of nerve irritation is often made worse by pressure under the ball of the foot. By spreading load more evenly and reducing localised stress, Modudome can help relieve pressure on the affected nerve and improve comfort throughout movement.
Swelling or Irritation in the Front of the Foot

Between the long bones of the foot are small, natural fluid-filled sacs called bursae. Their role is to reduce friction and allow smooth movement. When the forefoot is overloaded or compressed, these bursae can become irritated and inflamed, leading to swelling, tenderness, and pain across the front of the foot.
Symptoms typically worsen with prolonged standing, walking, or tight footwear. Reducing excess pressure in this area is important, and offloading devices like Modudome can help minimise friction around the inflamed bursa and improve comfort during day-to-day activity.
